CTR Formula: (Clicks / Impressions) x 100
Click-through rate (CTR) is the percentage of users who click on a link or ad out of the total number who saw it. It is calculated by dividing the number of clicks by the number of impressions and multiplying by 100. For example, if your ad receives 1,000 impressions and 30 clicks, your CTR is 3%.
It depends on the channel and format. In Google Ads Search, an average CTR is between 3% and 5%. In display advertising, it's usually less than 1%. In email marketing, a healthy CTR ranges from 2% to 5%. The more segmented and relevant the audience, the higher the expected CTR.
The open rate measures the percentage of recipients who open an email, while the click-through rate (CTR) measures those who click on a link within that email. In email marketing, both metrics are used in a complementary way: the open rate evaluates the subject line and the sender, and the CTR evaluates the quality of the content and the calls to action.
